Driver eligibility & documents
- The renter must possess a valid original Indian Driving Licence or an International Driving Permit (IDP).
- The driver must be at least 21 years of age.
- A valid government ID (Aadhaar Card / Voter ID / Passport) is mandatory for verification. Local residents may need to provide proof of employment or business.
- Northeast Ride reserves the right to deny a booking if documents are found invalid or suspicious.
Security deposit & refunds
- A refundable security deposit is required before handing over the vehicle. The earlier Northeast Ride terms specify ₹3,000–₹10,000 depending on the car model.
- The deposit is stated to be refundable within 24–48 hours after the vehicle is returned and inspected for damage or traffic violations.
- For damage, the repair estimate may be deducted from the security deposit. If damage exceeds the deposit, the renter remains liable for the balance.
Fuel, speed & usage
- Fuel policy: the supplied terms use a “Tank-to-Tank” policy: the car is provided with a full tank and must be returned with a full tank.
- Rental speed rule: the supplied terms state a maximum of 80 km/h on highways and 40–50 km/h in hilly terrain (Meghalaya / Arunachal), irrespective of any higher statutory road limit.
- Overspeeding above 100 km/h is stated to attract a ₹500 penalty per instance; continuous overspeeding may result in remote engine immobilisation where supported.
- Smoking and drinking alcohol inside the vehicle are prohibited and the supplied terms state a ₹1,500 cleaning fine.
Damages & insurance
- In the event of an accident, the renter must inform Northeast Ride immediately and follow the support team’s instructions.
- Minor damage: scratches, dents or broken parts such as mirrors/lights are payable by the customer as per the authorised service-centre estimate.
- Major accidents: where an insurance claim is processed, the supplied terms state that the customer remains liable for file charges and downtime loss (rent for days the vehicle is in the garage).
- Towing charges caused by negligence or accidents are stated to be payable by the customer.
4x4 / off-road note: the supplied terms say underbody damage, clutch burnout from improper driving and tyre bursts are not covered and may be charged fully to the customer.
Late returns & extensions
- A 30-minute grace period is stated for returns.
- Delays beyond 30 minutes are charged hourly; delays exceeding 4 hours are stated to be charged as a full rental day.
- Extension requests must be made at least 12 hours in advance and remain subject to vehicle availability.
Jurisdiction
By booking a vehicle, the customer agrees to the applicable Terms & Conditions. The supplied Northeast Ride terms state that disputes are subject to the jurisdiction of Guwahati courts.
Support-number check before launch: the previous Terms file listed +91 69008 38115 for accident support, while the rest of the supplied Northeast Ride pages consistently use +91 80113 17055. This redesign displays the main public number (+91 80113 17055) throughout. If +91 69008 38115 is still your dedicated emergency line, restore it here before publishing.
